Foundry Operator was Pioneer of Texarkana S. R. McDonlad, 73-year- old pioneer of Texarkana and owneroperator of the Twin City Foundry and Machine Company, died Friday morning at his home at 1321 West Eighth street. Born in Rondo, Ark., of parents who were native Georgians, Mr. McDonald spent his entire life in Texarkana and the immediate vicinity, playing an important role in the civic life of the city. Particularly was he instrumental in developing the portion of Texarkana about his buisness and home location. He was an active member of the Beech Street Baptist church and had been a member of the board of deacons for 15 years at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, four sons, Charles T. McDonald, Sam R. McDonald, Jr., J. Douglas McDonald, of Texarkana, and L. Allen McDonald of Los Angeles, Calif. Two daughters, Mrs. P. D. Baxter of Texarkana and Mrs. C. H. Lofton of Shreveport. Two brothers; Charles G. McDonald of Bivins, Texas, and J. William McDonald of Diboll, Okla., and two sisters, Mrs. H. W. English and Miss Minnie a McDonald of Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Beech Street Baptist church with Dr. O.J. Wade, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Henry Rochelle, Nelson Lofton, Sid Baxter, Frank Blankenship, Arthur Cowan, Bill Presley, Mark Blydes of Shreveport, Floyd Manning and H. A. Carver.
