Alvin S. BENNETT, 62, died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles
[*Sherman Oaks, Calif.]. He was also a resident of Joiner, where he had
a second residence.

Mr. BENNETT was a World War II veteran and was the president and owner
of both Benwood Farm and Liberty Records. He was named Arkansas Man of
the Year in 1964. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen BENNETT of Sherman Oaks, Calif.;
one daughter, Adalah B. SHAW of Joiner; one brother, Gabe BENNETT of
Joiner; two sisters, Joyce REYNOLDS of Jacksonville, Fla., and Barbara
TERRY of Joiner, and seven grandchildren.

*He was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Clinton BENNETT and Keith
Richard BENNETT.

Services were held March 20 at 1 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Service
Chapel of West Memphis with the Rev. Dick HALEY officiating. Burial was
in Bassett Cemetery.
