Girl Struck On Sled Dies

Wilson, Ark. - A 9-year-old Wilson girl who was hit by a car while
sledding Sunday died Monday at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, a spokesman
for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday.

Sally Jeannette BRIDGES, daughter of Mrs. Sarah BRIDGES of Wilson and
Charles BRIDGES of Memphis, died at 5:45 p.m. from injuries received in
the accident. Authorities said the girl was sledding on an embankment
when the sled went into the street in the path of a car driven by a
Wilson man. No charges were filed against the driver.

The sheriff's department spokesman said the death was the only weather
related fatality recorded in the county during the recent snow and ice.

Services for Miss BRIDGES will be at 2 p.m. today at Wilson First
Baptist Church with burial in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in
Osceola. Swift Funeral Home of Osceola has charge.

She also leaves two brothers, Jeff Edward BRIDGES and Jackie Lee
BRIDGES, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arlin STEWART and Mrs. and
Mrs. Bilbo BRIDGES, all of Wilson.
