He was born February 19, 1922 in Bassett, a son of the late Harry Elvin and Molly Jane Larue ELROD, he was a retired security guard and a Wold War II veteran. He served in three major battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He was also decorated with three bronze stars. He is survived by his wife, Molly Mays ELROD; five sons, James L. ELROD of Memphis, Jerry E. ELROD of Osceola, Arthur "Sam" ELROD and Charles E. ELROD, both of Greenbrier, and Bobby ELROD of Louisiana; one daughter, Mary Jane RIGGINS of Mayflower; two sisters, Irene BLAYLOCK of Wilson and Dorothy PORTER of Cabot; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. December 11 at Dwire Funeral Home. Burial will be in Scotland.
