Max KOONCE, 79, of Steele, died yesterday at his home. He was a retired
carpenter. Born in Halls, Tenn., he had been a longtime Bootheel resident.

He is survived by two sons, Max Terral KOONCE of Mesa, Ariz. and Bobby
KOONCE of Rockford, Ill.; One brother, Malcolm KOONCE of Steele; One
sister, Mrs. Ola ROSS of Sledge, Miss.; Three grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in John W. German Funeral Home in
Steele, the Rev. Billy Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion
Cemetery. The family will receive visitors today from 5:30 until 9 p.m. at
the funeral home.
