However, it will provide the necessary medium for me to tell you how much we enjoyed our visit. The hospitality was wonderful, and besides there were so many fringe benefits -- food, good sleeping, et cetera. We got home in good shape, with nary an egg broken, and with the grocery sacks filled to the brim. Of course, the piece de resistance was the china angel. I could hardly wait to place her beside her sisters, and the musical group is now complete. I thank you, dear Ethel, from the bottom of my heart. I wrote Mrs. Frazer and acknowledged the pictures, and told her I would return them July 12th or thereabouts. As soon as we "girls" meet again. We skipped the 4th of July, which puts the shrimp feed off for a week. Just as soon as a definite date is set, I will let you know, and hope you can come over for it. I have worked most of this week, and will work for the salesman all the week of July 15th while he is on vacation. I'll probably work most of August, but have told them to count me out the last week in August, as Judy will be here to welcome Pete home. He has climbed the Leaning Tower of Pisa, photographed some of Rome's many fountains, also St. Peters, the Forum, the Appian Way, (to mention only a few) and gorged himself on bona fide pizza. Oh Roma!! But that's all right. I'm going back to Falfurrias this fall, come h -! or high water. Uncle is fine and throwing a watermelon party for the Rainbow Girls tomorrow nite. I won't tell him he's not supposed to eat them. If he pays his money, he can enjoy a little bit of it and the melon won't hurt him -- it just won't help him. We found Marjorie and Millie at home. Millie had circles under her eyes from her food poisoning. Lily, the "Journal" came today, and it is a continuing pleasure. May I thank you again for a thoughtful Christmas gift, which arrives 12 times instead of once in a year. Oh, yes. Ethel, we didn't reduce the 2 cups of stock to fit the smaller chicken, thus making it (the casserole) too soupy. I tried it with elbow macaroni, sharp cheese, and "kicked" the sauce with a little Worcestershire and prepared mustard. I also omitted the top layer of cheese and let the sauce serve as a topping as the recipe called for. It lasted us 3 days and grew better as time passed. It's after eleven P.M. and Saturday here is always a hoe-down! I must rest my peepers. Is Oma home? I want to hear about the Convention. Love to you both, and we enjoyed our visit. Come to see us. Lee Friday Nite P.S. We are now receiving our mail in a pasteboard box. Over the 4th, a bird built a beautiful nest in our mail box. The postman is cooperating, and I hope Mrs. Bird will complete the cycle.
