King, Emma J., age 85 of 119 Wickstead Rd. Hueytown, passed away Friday a.m. 
at the residence. Survived by 2 daughters, Mrs Pauline Kirkpatrick, of 
Hueytown, Mrs Mildred Lyle of Childersburg; 16 grandchildren, and 33 great 
grandchildren. Funeral Service Sunday, 2:30pm from Pleasant Ridge Baptist 
Church, the Rev. Judson Jones officiating, interment adjoining cemetery. The 
body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until time of service. Brown-
Service Bessemer directing.

Additional Comments:
Emma was the daughter of David N. and Harriet Pauline Pledger Brakefield.
She was born 3/13/1880 in Monroe Co., AR and married John M. King 5/9/1894 in 
Lee Co., AR. Emma moved to Alabama about 1928 and lived with her daughter, 
Pauline and son-in-law W. C. Kirkpatrick, around 1930 until her death. She was 
my grandmother.
