He then gathered his 3 children and Thomas and moved to Menin County, Tennesee where he married Elizabeth Ann Grubb and they moved to Story, Arkansas and the following children were born; James Grant Curtis John Asbury Curtis Amos H. Curtis Benjamin Lafayette Curtis Elizabeth who preceded him to a higher life some two years ago. He came to Arkansas many years ago; lived back in the Muddy Mountins, three miles from the settlement, in close communion with his God. Father Curtis was a member of Methodist Church for over fifty years of his life and died in a full triumph of a living faith. Died February 14, 1908. He leaves three children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his death, but our loss is heaven's gain. We no longer look into his aged face nor hear his voice, but he still lives in the hearts of our people. Funeral serverices were held the 5th, at Liberty, conducted by Elder Southard Rev. G. L. Gray; the text was St. John II[I?], chapter 11, 25th verse. His heart, was like a garden, Old-fashioned, quaint and sweet; A wealth of buds and blossoms, Hid in a still retreat Sweet violets of sympathy, Were always opening there And Liillies, white and pure, enclosed Each one, a whispered prayer. And from it still floats back to us, Ovecoming sin and strife, Sweet as the breath of roses' bloom, The fragrance of his life [Moses Curtis was the great-grandfather of Penny Curtis Spencer.
