After going a few hundred feet, the road forks. Take the left fork and proceed about two miles; when the road forks again, take the left fork, which leads past some charcoal kilns situated on the left side of the road. Continue on this narrow, unimproved road for approximately a half mile. The old Hopewell School House can be seen on the slops down-hill to the right. The cemetery is a fenced plot of land to the rear of the school house. The cemetery has received no care recently and the woods are grown sky high. One noteworth feature of this cemetery is a certain family plot enclosed with a handsome woven wire fence supplied with a gate. There are three graves - one infant and two adult - but no inscription or other clue as to who is buried there, This description was written in 1968 so you may find that the old school house is gone, Allred, Jonathan, born 1820 - died 1895 Sausannia, born 1827 - died 1892 (wife of Jonathan) Frederick Elizabeth Allred, born 1848 - died 1888 Newberry C.B., born Dec. 24, 1845 - died Dec. ll, 1889 J.M., born Sept. 5, 1826 - died Feb. 19, 1898 Rachel, born Sept. 1, 1831 - died March 16, 1891 (wife of J.M.)
