Newton Co, AR - John Meek-Rebecca Cagle - Marriage

According to the Military Widow's Pension Application (#123183) of
Rebecca Cagle Meek, she married John Meek on November 1, 1859 in Newton
County Arkansas.  The marriage was performed by Justice of the Peace
Isaac Guess.  As of  February 19, 1866, she states that the Newton County
Courthouse records were destroyed during the Rebellion and she cannot
make proof of the marriage because her home was burned down and all of
her personal papers were completely destroyed in the fire.   Two
witnesses to the Pension application affied that they were present at the
marriage:  Sedrick P. Brassfield and James Jones, and witnessed John Meek
having been killed on May 6, 1864 and buried him afterward.
