The Rev. Sayle Lilly officiated. Mr. Barbee, 49, died Sunday at the Baptist Central in Memphis. Survivors include his mother, Margaret Barbee of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Matthew Lester Barbee of California; and a sister, Linda Clark of Harrisburg, Mississippi. SPAIN Funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Ione Spain of Marianna was conducted Saturday at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Marianna. The Rev. Gary Goldman officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Spain, 79, died last Thursday, June 22, 1995, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Sherry Cagle of Killeen, Texas; Mrs. Bobbie Turley and Mrs. Ola Dean Pickett, both of Marianna; a son, Russell Spain of Marianna; four sisters, Mrs. Sugar Jones, Mrs. Herscell Allen, and Mrs. Louise Oxner, all of Marianna; and Mrs. Virginia Russell of Helena; two brothers, Wayne Smith and Roland Smith, both of Marianna; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Earl McBride, Allen McBride, Johnny McBride, Danny Spain, Don Spain, Dave Smith, and Sammy Tucker. MRS. MAUDINE P. MERTZ Graveside service for Mrs. Maudine P. Mertz of West Helena was conducted last Saturday, June 24, at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Burl Lloyd officiated. Arrangements were under direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Mrs. Mertz, 70, died last Thursday, June 22, 1995, at ST. Joseph’s Hospital in Memphis. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Robert K. Mertz; three daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Wright of Memphis, and Mrs. Joyce A. Robbins and Mrs. Darlene Beake, both of Walls, Mississippi; four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Williams and Mrs. Patsy Gunderman, both of Pascagoula, Mississippi; Mrs. Arlen Patton of Lexa and Mrs. Betty Weaver of West Helena; two half-sisters, Mrs. Rhonda Rone of Helena and Mrs. Sharon Erwin of Burns, Tennessee; a step-brother, James Erwin of Burns, Tennessee; and a grandson. JACK HARCOURT Graveside service for Jack Harcourt of Helena was conducted Saturday morning, June 24, at Sunset Memorial Park. The Rev. Gordon Montgomery officiated. Arrangements were under direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Mr. Harcourt, 88, died, June 22, 1995, last Thursday, June 22, 1995, at his home. He was a native of Harrisburg, a retired painting contractor, and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Talitha Mae Harcourt; two sons, Jack L. Harcourt of Cabot and Jimmy Harcourt of Helena; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
