Funeral service for DeCatur Burge Jackson Jr. of Marvell wasconducted Fri. afternoon at Turner Baptist Church. The Rev. Carl Fawcett officiated. Burial was in Valley Grove Cemetery near Holly Grove and was under direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson, 42, died Oct. 19 after being involved in an automobile accident near DeWitt. He was a native of Holly Grove, a member of Turner Baptist Church, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. DeCatur Jackson Sr. of Holly Grove; a son, DeCatur B. Jackson III of Marvell; a daughter, Leia B. Jackson of Marvell; and three sisters, Paula Jackson of Memphis,Sue Todd of Memphis, and Harriet Jackson of Elbert, CO. Douglas Johnson of Jonesboro was conducted Mon. at Roller-Citizens Funeral home Chapel. The Rev. Al Major officiated. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Johnson, 66, died Fri. at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. He had resided in Elaine for 57 yrs. prior to moving to Jonesboro. He was a member of the Elaine Baptist Church and served as building and finance committee chairman and was a Sun. School teacher. Johson was also an Eagle Scout, the highest rank a youth can attain as a Boy Scout and was active in the Boy Scout movement for most of his adult life. He served on the executive board of the Eastern Ark. Area Council for a number of yrs. and was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest honor an adult can attain in scouting. For 33 yrs., he was manager of a grain elevator at Wabash and served as a volunteer fireman for 30 yrs. When he moved to Jonesboro, he joined the First Baptist Church and remained a member until his death. He was retired from the FederalGrain Inspection Service and was a businessman. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nell Johnson of Jonesboro; two daughters, Mrs. Kylene Goza of Jonesboro and Mrs. Wanda Kowbel of Conway; two brothers, Esley Johnson of Elaine and James Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Martha Carrol of Natchez, Miss., and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were nephews. The family requests any memorials be made to the Elaine Baptist Church. MRS. LANETTA H. SMITH Funeral service for Mrs. Lanetta H. Mrs. Smith, 45, was bookkeeper-secretary for Clatworthy Accounting. She died Fri. A native of Marvell. Mrs. Smith was a member of the County Line Baptist Church, and was a Sun. School Teacher, a member of WMA, youth director, leader of the Sunbeams, a member of the church choir and was a Vacation Bible School leader. Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Weber of Marvell; her mother, Mrs. Dora G. Hamlett; a brother, Percy Hamlett III of Monroe, LA., and a sister, Pam Graham of Helena.
