All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Kennard Ruben Garrison Sept 1978 The Jonesboro Sun THE JONESBORO SUN MISHAP IS FATAL A Poinsett County man was killed about 2:15 Tuesday afternoon in a one vehicle crash on a county gravel road about six miles south of Trumann, State Trooper Charles Beall said. Beall identified the vicitim as Kennard R Garrison, 63, Trumann, Route 1. The accident occured, the trooper said, when Garrison, westbound on a gravel road south of Arkansas 214, apparently lost control of his 1969 Ford pickup truck, and the truck overturned in a small ditch, traveling some 15 yards in the ditch before coming to rest. The gravel roads runs off the Maple Grove Road, which, intersects with Arkansas 214 about 2 1/2 miles west of the U S 63 north of Payneway. The mishap occurred less than a quarter-mile from Garrison's home, Beall added. A retired farmer and member of the Pentecostal church , Garrison was born at Batesville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Oreatha Garrison of the home; five sons, Bobby Garrison, Eddie Garrison and George Garrison, all of Trumann; Harold Garrison of Jonesboro, and Kenneth Garrison of Blue Mountain, Miss.; eight daughters, Mrs. Betty Platt and Mrs. Barbara Wombel, both of Yazoo City, Miss., Mrs. Bonnie Pulley, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Helen Hancock and Mrs. Shirley Carter, both of Jonesboro, Mrs. Virginia Lovens, Mrs. Peggy Oldman, and Mrs. Mary Sue Smith all of Trumann; three brothers, Leonard Garrison, Seattle Washington, and Robert Garrison and Lindsey Garrison both of Plant City Fla., and 27 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 Friday afternoon in the Highway Valley Pentecostal church with Rev. Albert Crocker of Trumann officiating. Burial will be at the Holly Springs Cemtery under the direction of Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home.
