Witherspoon Cemetery, Vandervoort, Polk Co, AR *********************************************************** Submitted by: Lou Ann Lunsford Date: 13 Dec 1997 Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** NOTICE: This will be typed exactly as printed, because it seems to be a "walk-through" report. That can be very important when searching ancestors. I will type this as time permits so please stay with me, it's a pretty good size cemetery for the area of Vandervoort. I am making notes as *** when a name belongs to my family's roots, so if there is a connection to yours, and you would like to share, let me know and I will be glad to share what I have too. Location: One mile south the one-half mile east of downtown Vandervoort. History: Samuel G. Witherspoon was the first person buried in this cemetery. He selected this burial site in early 1850's. In 1965 his great-grandson erected a brass marker at his gravesite in Samuel's memory.
