He was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, Oct. 15, 1834, and went to Little Rock in 1856. He was a Captain in the Confederate Army and was a member of the Little Rock School board for the last ten years. He the first Grand Master in Arkansas for the Knights of Pythias and also was a past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows. He leaves a wife and two daughters - Mrs. A. C. Carroll and Mrs. George H. Lee.
