James R. Harris and Raymond J. Hunter, Keathley's roommates, told the police that Keathley was talking with them about noon when he put one bullet in a .22 caliberpistol. Keathley then spun the cylinder and pointed the gun to his head, according to Capt. W. D. Gibson. Keathley pulled the trigger and the gun fired, Gibson said. The shot struck in the left side of the head and he was dead on arrival at University Hospital. Keathley was employed at a Truck Stop. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Tinnim Keathley of Missouri; his father Elbert Keathleyof Little Rock; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Holmes of Jacksonville; 2 brothers; Bobby Keathley of Jacksonville and Buddy Keathley of California; and 10 sisters, Mrs. Sybil Green, Miss Katrina Clark and Misses Terry, Tanga, and Nyanna Keathley all of Jacksonville, Mrs. DorisCecil of Kentucky, Mrs. Patsy Kirsch of California, Mrs. Tiny Cade of Colorado, Mrs. Shirley Hill of Humphrey and Mrs. Lenora Easterling of North Little Rock. Funeral will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the Jacksonville Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:30 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery between Bigelow and Perryville. [My uncle - son of Elbert James Keathley.]
