White, who was for several years head of the bond department of Drexel, Morgan & Co., and a veteran of the Confederate Army in the Civil War, died of heart disease on Friday at his home, 119 Franklin St., Astoria, Long Island, where he had lived for forty eight years. Although born 76 years ago in this city, Mr. White enlisted as an Arkansas regt. In the Confederate cause, having been in business in that state. At the battle of Shiloh, he was wounded, and later was taken prisoner. He returned after the war to New York, married in 1868 to Miss Alice Minturn, daughter of John Minturn of this city. Survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters. He joined the Stock Exchange in 1869, of which he was one of the oldest members. Extracted from: New York Times via Ancestry.com
