Mary Thompson Allen, 79, of Benton died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006.

She was born June 8, 1927, in Schwenksville, Pa., to John F. and Madeline Thompson. 

Mrs. Allen was a retired PBX (private telephone switchboard) operator at the Benton Service Center. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Allen; brother, Francis Thompson and a sister, Loretta Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Samuel W. Allen and wife Donna, John J. Allen and wife Susan and Thomas R. Allen and wife Katrina; two daughters, Mandy A. Hall and husband Carl and Bonnie L. Patterson and husband B. J.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home, with Matthew Allen officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
