All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** - from Benton Courier Obit Dwight Brown, 63, of Hot Springs Village died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. He was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Bauxite to Arkel and Jewel Akins Brown. Mr. Brown was co-owner with Leon Lovell of Woodlast Products Co. and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was valedictorian of his high school class at Bauxite, a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a member of Sigma Pi fraternity and the ROTC program, and served in Vietnam as a captain and Cobra helicopter pilot in the Army's 9th Cavalry. His father preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Michelle Brown of Hot Springs Village; his mother, Jewel Brown of Benton; one brother, Gary Brown and wife Theresa of Benton; one sister, Wanda Mansfield and husband James of Benton; two brothers-in-law, C. W. Turbyfill and wife Patsy of Paron and Forrest Turbyfill and wife Janice of Mena; four nieces, Renee Parker Dickins and husband Dr. John Dickins, Michelle Fincher and husband Dan, Stephanie Brooks and husband Matt Brooks, and Terra Turbyfill; four nephews, Michael Brown, Kevin Mansfield and wife Loretta, and Steven Turbyfill and Torren Turbyfill; two great-nieces, Brooke Parker and Emily Fincher; and four great-nephews, Creighton Parker, David Fincher and Blake and Jared Brooks. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, with Monsignor Bernard Malone officiating. Graveside service with military honors will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Bauxite. Pallbearers will be Leon Lovell, Jonathan Woolbright, Jason "Herc" Pickens, Jim Villines, Marion Little, Tommy Nelson, Travis Nelson and Carroll Hambric. Mr. Brown's cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family visitation is at 6 p.m. today at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton. A rosary will be held after the visitation at 6:30 p.m., with deacon Wally Gieringer officiating. The family will be at 300 E. Conway St. in Benton. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Children's Education Fund; Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Children's Home; St. Michael's Catholic Day Care; or the Bauxite school libraries.
