She was born April 25, 1932, in Plummerville. Mrs. Brown and her husband of 39 years, Fay, were the founders of Vimy Ridge Pentecostal Church. They pastored for more than 30 years. She was a member of Otter Creek Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father, William Rainwater; and one brother, Melbourne Rainwater. Survivors include her her mother, Melveda Evans; six children, Phyllis Cotner, Sherry Lattin and husband Charlie, John Brown and wife Debra, David Brown and wife Lenee, Debra Lee, and Priscilla Herrin and husband Greg; one sister, Linmae Garrett; two brothers, Elvin Rainwater and Billy Rainwater; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and church family. A celebration of Mrs. Brown's life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills in Alexander with the Revs. Sam Bates and John Tracy officiating. Burial will follow in Butler Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Ricky Lattin, Anthony Lattin, Bradley Lattin, Matthew Brown, Nick Brown, Mark Brown and Scotty Wilson. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family comments: Jean will truly be missed by all that loved and knew her. She had a heart for people and loved being a mother and grandmother.
