He was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Malvern to Walter Butler and Ann Elmore Butler. Mr. Butler was a veteran of the Navy and served his country in World War II. He was retired from Reynolds Metal, where he worked as a crane operator, and he was a Seventh Day Adventist. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Kiah, Fount, Earnest, Paul and Tommy Butler; and three sisters, Mamie Kirkpatrick, Alice Berryhill and Onie Clardy. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eva Dee Battreal Butler; one son, Freddy D. Butler of Malvern; two daughters, Linda Lake and Sue Mills, both of Malvern; three sisters, Lura Freyaldenhoven of Texas, Marie Clardy of Benton and Evelyn Tipton and husband Harold of Indiana; six grandchildren, Mike Lake and wife Lisa, Stephen Lake and wife Amanda, Rodney Mills and wife Karen, Brian Mills, Dede Haynes and husband Randy and Brandi Martin and husband Drew; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter Lake, Trent Lake, Emily Mills, Joseph Mills, Carson Haynes and Jackson Haynes. Funeral service was scheduled to be at 10 a.m. today at Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern, with the Rev. Carroll Graybeall officiating. Burial was to be in Fairplay Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alonzo Williams, Lee Garrett, George Clardy, Archie Dugan, Ronald Robinson and Donald Butler. Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home.
