Edgar Dwain Elder, 80, of Benton died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.

He was born April 15, 1926, in Manning to Edgar Eugene and Elsie Ann
Elder.

Mr. Elder was a retired maintenance worker at Baptist Health Medical
Center and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Oak Grove
Baptist Church, the EWY Hunting Club and the Keen Agers at Oak Grove
Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Doyle Elder.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Elder; four daughters, Janie Welch
and husband Jim of Benton, Elizabeth Hensley of Benton, Brenda Potts
and husband Gene of Sardis and Susan Crossland and husband Danny of
Benton; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Randall Clark, Amy Welch,
Chrissy Keith and husband Stephen, Deric Davenport, Drew Crossland, Dustyn
Crossland and Savanna Crossland; one great-granddaughter, Ella Blair
Keith; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Henson and Melissa Potts; one
stepgreat-grandson, Dakota Bean; one brother, James Elder of Amarillo, Texas;
one half sister, Alvern Porterfield of Benton; and numerous nieces and
nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home with
the Revs. Vance Nutt and Don Benham officiating. Burial will be in
Pinecrest Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Deric Davenport, Drew
Crossland, Dustyn Crossland, Randall Clark, Stephen Keith and Chris Bussell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Elder, John Paul Roberts, Mike Roberts,
Chris Roberts, Larry Porterfield and Ben Reed.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
