Jackson, 81, of New Bern, N.C., died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, from injuries suffered in an accident involving a logging truck. Mr. Jackson lived and grew up in Little Rock and attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mathematics. He served in the Seabees during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He taught math at Bauxite High School for three years and later was employed by Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Arkansas for five years. He was with Blue Cross-Blue Shield of New Jersey for 30 years, where he was vice president until he retired in 1987. He was past president of Bernards Township Kiwanis Club of Basking Ridge, N.J., and past president of Sales Executive Club of New Jersey and vice president of Sales Executive Foundation. He also was past treasurer of Bishop Janes United Methodist Church of Basking Ridge, N.J. He moved to Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1987, where he and his wife, Virginia B. Jackson, lived for 16 years before moving to New Bern, N.C., in 2003. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven C. Jackson and wife Laurie of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Jeffrey K. Jackson and wife Cindy of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Janet Hally and husband Tom of Bethlehem, Pa.; and nine grandchildren. A private graveside service was held Oct. 17 at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. Ayden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
