All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Albert S. “Sid” Johnston, 91, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006. He was born June 9, 1915, in Vilonia, the oldest of five children of Albert and Gertrude Johnston. Mr. Johnston was a member of Parkview Methodist Church of Benton, Fellowship Bible Class and XYZ Club at the church. He was a graduate of Conway High School and a veteran of World war II. He retired after 40 years as manager of Holsum Bakery,, was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of the Back of the Bus Razorback Club. He was an avid University of Arkansas Razorbacks fan, attending every game while he was able. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mike; three brothers, Russell Johnston, Winston Johnston and Rudolph “Babe” Johnston; and one sister, Marie. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Genevieve “Jenny” M. Johnston; one niece, Mary Jane Erwin of Flippin; three nephews, Philip Johnston and Dick Johnston, both of Flippin, and Tommy Russell Johnston of Hot Springs Village. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dee Edwards officiating. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery in Benton. Pallbearers will be James Cole, Tommie Erwin, Dick Johnston, Philip Johnston, Tommy Russell Johnston and Roy Preuett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
