All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** - from Benton Courier Obit Ophelia Britt Mauldin, 87, of Benton, formerly of McCrory, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at the Benton Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Harrisburg to John N. Britt and Mollie Mason Britt. Mrs. Mauldin was a longtime member of Whitehall Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the McCrory Chapter 264 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 112 in McCrory. She was a homemaker of many years and was an employee of Royal Shoe Co. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, quilting, gardening and flowers. Survivors include one son, John Wesley Mauldin Jr. and wife Sharon of Benton; two daughters, Margie Scott and Linda Dupree; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory, with the Rev. Glen Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Woodman Cemetery in Woodruff County with an Eastern Star graveside ceremony. Pallbearers will be Mike, Matt and Danny Mauldin, James Guthrie, Clifford Atkins and Frank Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Mauldin, Lynn Maulding, Billy Turney and Harvey Dewitt. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the White Hall Methodist Church or any chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
