Moore was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, January 1, 1825. He married Miss Sarah Freeman, and moved to Saline County, Arkansas in 1847; his wife dies in 1881; on arch 3, 1862, he married Miss Eunice Emeline Blackwell, soon after this marriage he enlisted in the Confederate service; he was wounded and taken prisoner of war; while a prisoner at Alton, Ill., in 1865, he professed faith in Christ; he was exchanged, returned home, and in 1866 joined the Church of Christ at Fair Play; he was baptized by Elder John Y. Lindsey, and soon after he was licensed to preach; on February 21, 1869, he was ordained, the presbytery consisted of Elder R. M. Thrasher, and John C. Henderson; he was uneducated, yet he never failed to declare the truths of the gospel as it is in Christ our Lord; choosing rather to suffer persecutions than to deny the faith once delivered to the saints; he always endeavored to strengthen the brethren in the Lord and warning the sinners to flee the wrath to come. Such was his last sermon. He died at his home, in Saline County, Arkansas, on the 11 day of September, A. d., 1889. 'Blessed are they that die in the Lord.'
