All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Edna Irene Salley Nutt, 94, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the Cherry Valley Health Care in Banning, Calif. She was born April 24, 1912, in Benton. Mrs. Nutt grew up in Benton. She was married in 1927 to William Franklin “Bill” Salley, who served with distinction in World War II. In 1947, the Salley family moved to Beaumont, Calif., and she was happily married for 43 years before becoming a widow in 1970. She resided for 28 years in the Beaumont community, where she attended the First Baptist Church. “Nonnie,” as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, became a favorite nickname for all the family. She was an astute businesswoman who owned and operated two successful dress shops, called Salley's Dress Shops. She married Jimmy Nutt in 1976 and lived in Benton. At the age of 65, she took an art class and discovered she had a hidden talent for painting. In 1995, after her husband died, she moved back to California, where her daughter “Evi” lived with her. Survivors include three daughters, Agnes Marie Tyler of Clark Fork, Idaho, V. Salley Sacks of Long Beach, Calif., and Evelyn Ann Olson of Banning, Calif.; two sons, Curtis Ray Salley of Banning and William Jack Salley of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Hamilton of Denver, Colo. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, Calif. Burial will be at Mount View Cemetery in Beaumont, where she will be buried next to her husband, W.F. “Bill” Salley. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Beaumont. Family comments: Nonnie lived a full and rich life, making everyday count in the life she lived. From this life into the next abundant life is our heavenly dwelling.
