He was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Quitman, Arkansas. Cecil, a loving husband and father, was 82 years old. He attended Howard General Baptist Church and was retired from Atlantic Building Materials of Fort Pierce, Fla. Cecil was a World War II veteran of the Navy, serving on the USS Guadalcanal. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing dominoes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Bell Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Vernell Phillips; daughter, Cecilia Crippen and husband Stan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; son, Charlie Davidson and wife Karen of Benton; stepsons Kenneth Bartlett of Heber Springs and Greg Bartlett and wife Nancy of Eureka Springs; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Howard General Baptist Church in Quitman, with the Rev. Eldin Hodges officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Pierce, Fla. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.
