All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Ruth Phillips Samples, 76, of Benton died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Little Rock. She was born Aug. 24, 1929, to James M. Phillips and Naomi Williams Phillips in Benton. Mrs. Samples was a retired teacher from the Benton School District and a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Pauline Ritchey and Margueryte Fooks. Survivors include her husband, Glen Samples Sr.; one son, Glen “Buzz” Samples Jr. and wife Lawrie of Benton; five grandchildren, Shannon, Lindsey, Austin, Whitney and Hailey; two sisters, Gladys Lannen of Rock Island, Ill. and Pat Birchfield of Little Rock; and two brothers Jerry Phillips and M.M. Phillips, both of Benton. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Pallbearers will be Richard Sample, David Sample, Skip Sample, Doyle Ritchey Jr., Josh Newton and Brian White. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charities. Family comments: Ruth was an avid reader and a lover of God and her family. She never wavered from her belief.
