Bertha Powell Smith, 85, of Hot Springs, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Monday,
Aug. 28, 2006, at the Kenwood Heath and Rehabilitation Center in Benton.

She was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Clark County, a daughter of William and Kerry
Powell.

Mrs. Smith was a retired sales clerk at Holiday Jewelry Store in Hot Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton “Pete” Smith; her parents; one
brother; and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, Herbert Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two
daughters, Jennifer Parker Irvin of Benton and Paula Beason of Bismarck; one
brother, Bill Powell of California; three sisters, Ocie Powell of Hot Springs,
Ottie Wordelman and Imogene Calvis of Florida; seven grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of
Arkadelphia.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
