Smith Sr., surrounded by family, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 12,1999. Kathleen, a Methodist, was born May 10,1916, in Mabelvale, Ark., daughter of Leon Lefevre and Margaret Irene Martin. She was a descendant of Jared Carswell Martin, a prominent pioneer who settled in the Mabelvale area in 1822 and of Britton Bailey who came from Illinois to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's first colony in 1823. Survived by sons, Charles E. Smith Jr. and wife, Sonia, James M. Smith and wife, Dottie, Carl Hoyt?Smith, Little Rock; daughters, Eloise S.
