Samuel Irvin Smith, 78, of Paducah, Ky., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006.

He was born Feb. 20, 1928, Oak Park, Ill.

Mr. Smith married Mary Ann Richey of Benton, Ark., in 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Chris Smith of Benton, Ky., and Mitzi
Waltz of Sunderland, England; three grandchildren, Carmen Waltz of Portland,
Ore., Ian Schultz of Sunderland, England, and Samantha Smith of Benton, Ky.; and
a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Waltz of Portland, Ore.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Broadway United
Methodist Church in Paducah, Ky. Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan
Funeral Home of Hoxie, Ark.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, before the service.

Memorials may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church or the McCracken
County Library in Paducah, Ky.
