Penney Company for sixteen years. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as the minister for Churches of Christ in New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska and Waldron, Arkansas for over fifty years. His final sermon was preached at the Crystal Springs Church of Christ last November. He was joined in these efforts by his wife of fifty-five years, the late Milta Newman Shelton. He is survived by his son, Victor L. Shelton and his wife Rita of Springfield, Missouri and his daughter Sherra Sue Shelton Phillips and her husband, Ronald W. Phillips of Little Rock; sister-in-law Jane Newman of Ft. Smith, AR; grandchildren, Jenny Lynn Dunagan and her husband Steven of Springfield, Missouri; Sunny Joy Park and her husband Michael of Lubbock, Texas; Justin Phillips and his fiancee Shauri Taskey; and Aaron Lynn Phillips all of Little Rock; and great grandson Brady Mac Dunnigan; and two nieces and a nephew. After retiring from the church at Waldron he moved to Little Rock. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. He married a very special lady four years ago, Bessie Brown Shelton, and with this marriage acquired a large and loving extended family which he counted as his own. Survivors are daughters, Carolyn Wright and her husband Wayne, Danita Hart and husband James, and Debbie Wright and husband Wally, all of the Little Rock area, six grandchildren, Tonya Hoffman, Andrea Collatt, Scott Wright, Jeremy Wright, Samantha Brooks, and Amanda Wright, and five great-grand- children, Brooks Wright, Drew Collatt, Zach Groves, A.J. Collatt and Clare Grace Wright. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and golfing buddies. He was proud of the fact that at the age of 82, he shot his age at the golf course. He had such knowledge of the Bible, a wonderful smile which conveyed care and kindness, concern and patience, a great shock of silver wavy hair and love for all whose lives he touched. He was "Grandpa Shelton" to Nicholas and Emilee Phillips, Lindsey Niesen and a lot of other children. Our bonds of family and friendship will be everlasting in Christ. A special thanks to Dr. Ralph Broadwater and his staff and the nurses and caretakers at University Hospital and the staff of the Surgery Oncology Clinic at Arkansas Cancer Research Center. A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17th, at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
