She was a retired restaurant owner and operator and a Baptist, and the widow of Clawson Crutchfield. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 1998 in the First Baptist Church in Waldron with burial at Sehorn Cemetery. Survivors include one sister, Retha Ferguson, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; two nieces: Linda Bell, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Carol Marshall, of Midland, Texas; two great-nephews: Barrett Bell and Craig Marshall. He was born January 9, 1911. His age being 87 years two months and 19 days. Mr. Jones was the son of the late Benton Jones and the late Darthula Jones. He made his home in Mena and Waldron all of his life and was a log skidder in the timber industry. Survivors include two daughters: Zada Windham and Linda Priddy, both of Mena; one son, Athar Jones, of Coleman, Texas; one brother, William Jones, of Merced, California; ten grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren and the mother of his children, Amy Jones, of Mena. Sims, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died March 24, 1998 in Oklahoma City at the age of 90. She was born March 24, 1908 to Charles and Cora Winkler in Wheeling, West Virginia. She lived in Waldron before moving to Oklahoma City in 1988. She was a member of the Methodist faith. Doll is survived by nieces: Betty Tiner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Maxine London of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerri Bailey, of Dawsonville, Georgia; nephew Jack Winkler and wife Pamela of Norfolk, England; sister-in-law, Allie Winkler, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a construction worker and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by one son, Alton Gene Edwards, of Mansfield. Minister Larry Breen officiated. Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Lovington. Mrs. Hefner, 83, died April 18 at Columbia Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born September 6, 1914 in Lexington, Oklahoma. She practiced nursing for many years in the Scott County area. She was a resident of Boothe from 1969 to 1992. The Waldron News May 6, 1998 Obituary ROBERT FRANKLIN DARLING Robert Franklin Darling, 77, of Waldron, died Friday, May 1, 1998 in a Waldron hospital. He was a retired truck driver, and an elder of Pilot Prairie Church. Bob served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from December 1941 to October 1945. He was in oversees battle for 30 months in Australia and the Philippine Islands and was wounded in the Battle for Luzon. He received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge with Cluster, Distinguished Unit Badge, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with three Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant and was a 30-year member of the Disabled American Veterans. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4 in Pilot Prairie Church with burial at Pilot Prairie Cemetery in Waldron. Garner; age 85 of Waldron, died Sunday, May 3, 1998 in Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Fort Smith. Mrs. Garner was born on November 21, 1912 in Blancett, Arkansas. to Joseph and Mollie Heath. She was married to Eloyce J. Garner on July 25, 1934 at Waldron. She was a homemaker her entire life and was a member of the Waldron First Baptist Church. Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her husband, Eloyce J. Garner who died November 15, 1997. Also preceding her in death was twin daughters, her parents, Joseph and Mollie Heath, two sisters, Dora Carey and Viola Allen, three brothers, Burle Heath, Lyndon Heath and Clarence Heath. Mrs. Garner is survived by one son, Larry J. Garner, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, one granddaughter, Michelle Garner, of Muskogee, Oklahoma and a special friend, Sue Schoonover, of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Also surviving are two sisters, Bertha Satterfield, of Waldron and Retha Frazier, of Fresno, California, two nieces, Cora Brown and Dora Jean Wright, both of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born September 29,1936, in Anniston, Missouri, son of the late Thomas B. and Edna White, of Waldron. He was married to the former Irene Stump, who survives at home. He was a former resident of Waldron and graduated from Waldron High School on May 24, 1954. Following graduation, he was employed in Washington, D.C. with the FBI. Following employment in Washington, D.C. he moved to Weston, West Virginia and was affiliated with WHAW, WSSN Radio for 25 years, serving as manager of the radio station for several years. He left the local community in 1984, and later returned to the Weston community of TCl of West Virginia in July 1994. He was a former member and president of the Lewis C. School Board of Education, president of the Lewis Co. Chamber of Commerce, Weston Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and the Lewis Co. Shriners Club. He was actively involved in the start-up of the educational Channel 20 at the Lewis County High School. Also surviving are two daughters: Ginger Lough, of Jane Lew, West Virginia, and Dorothy (Dottie) Neal, of Indiana, Pennsylvania; one son, Terry B. Katherine was born July 28,1903 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Perry Lovenskiold. She attended Soule College in New Orleans and subsequently married Dr. George F. Holitik of Corpus Christi, Texas. The couple moved to Waldron where Dr. Holitik practiced as a family practician from 1931 until his death in 1947. Katherine was active in many community affairs and was instrumental in the founding of the Catholic Church in Waldron. She is survived by her son, Dr. George F. Holitik, of Little Rock, her daughter, Etta Thurmond, of Kerrville, Texas, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker. Graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15 at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Hackett. Survivors include her husband, Chris; one daughter, Alyssa Brooke Turnipseed, of the home; parents: Charlene and Lonnie Sudberry, of Abbott; maternal grandmother, Ruth Williams, of Mansfield; two sisters: Lonene Turner, of Mansfield and Karen Richardson, of Fort Smith; three nieces: April Joy Turner, Nikki Richardson and Katlin Richardson. He was born December 3l, 1906 in Sugar Grove, Arkansas. He was a retired farmer and attended the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Langston; three daughters: Minnie Lou, Ima Dale and Angie Madge Langston; two sons: Bobby Wayne and Lee Alton Langston. Funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 in Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Birdsview Cemetery in Waldron. Survivors include three daughters: Della Meredith, Alla Merle Doyel and Sharron Goodner, all of Waldron; three sons: Delmer Langston, of Blanchard, Idaho, Tom Langston, of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Bernard Langston, of Waldron; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Albert Lee Langston, Monty Ray Meredith, Lee Allen Langston, Ronald Dee Doyel, Thomas Austin Langston, and Nathan Livingston Goodner. HELEN GRAY L. Helen Gray, of Waldron, died in her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born July 25, 1920 in Charleston, Arkansas. She is the mother of Lois Wade, of Greenwood, Tommy Gray, of Norman, Oklahoma, Rose Ann Minor, of Benton and Tina Holmes, of Waldron. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert Ray Rawlings and Neale (Bud) Rawlings, of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a retired secretary of the Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Friday, June 19, 1998, at the First United Methodist Church in Waldron with interment in the Duncan Cemetery. Waganer, 85, of, Waldron, died Friday, June 19, 1998 in a Waldron nursing home. He was a charter member and deacon of Temple Baptist Church and retired parts manager for Harris Motor Company. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lucille; one daughter, Sharon Waganer, of Waldron; son-in-law Don Martin, of Mansfield; grandsons and their wives: Charley and Diana Hughes, of Waldron, Chris and Kim Martin, of Huntington; granddaughter, Beth Glenn, of Witcherville; great- grandchildren Jerrod and Jordan Hughes, of Waldron, Howard Erler, of Oklahoma, Marsha Glenn, of Witcherville, Caleb and Taylor Martin, of Huntington; three sisters: Addie Carmack and Alberta Yates, both of Waldron, and Ruth Tabler, of Atlanta, Texas; two brothers: John Waganer, of Ukiah, California and Rev. Sam Waganer, of Waldron. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Sue Hughes Martin.
