HATTABAUGH James E. Hattabaugh, 86, of Lamont, California, formerly of this area, died August 17, 1998 in California. He was a member of the Lamont Jehovah Witness Church. He was the son of the late Van and Homey Hattabaugh. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence Hattabaugh; a daughter, Dolly, and a son, Clifton; sister, Annie Key; two brothers Sonny and Jerry Hattabaugh. He was a retired logger and furniture factory employee and attended the Waldron Assembly of God. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1 in Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hawkins Cemetery in Parks. Mr. Winkley was born Nov. 15, 1914 to the late Wyman Winkley and the late Lela Phillips Winkley in Vandervoort. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired employee of El Paso Natural Gas Company. She was predeceased by her husband, Burl Swiney, of 64 years on Aug. 31, 1998. She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Esther Oakes of the Cautthron community. she was married to Burl Swiney, a native of the Weeks community in 1934. She was valedictorian of the Waldron High School graduating class of 1937. She was a teacher in the Cauthron Elementary before moving to California in 1939. She was an active member of the Twin Towers United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Her community activities included Alameda Church Women United, Alameda Town Hall, Alameda Chapter of the Red Cross, Alameda Food Bank and past PTA president at Alameda High School, Alameda Girl Scouts and Jobs Daughters Bethel #12. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Platt and son-in-law, David Platt of Concord, California, a granddaughter, Jennifer Platt of Chico, California; a grandson, Daniel Platt of Concord, California; four brothers, Gerald Oakes of Cauthron, Harold Oakes of Ozark, Nuell Oakes of Eufala, Oklahoma and Clifton Oakes of Placerville, California.
