All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Patricia Mings Born May 7, 1935 Died September 9, 2006 Patricia Ruth Mings, 71, of Fort Smith, died September 9, 2006 in Fort Smith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She received her BA in music from the University of Oklahoma where her principle instrument was the organ. Music was very important in Patsy's life and she generously shared her great talents with others. Patsy frequently accompanied choral groups and instrumentalists for the Fort Smith Public Schools, attending many competitions throughout the state. She was also the pianist for the Fort Smith Rotary Club for many years. She provided piano music for many civic occasions for Fort Smith Mayor Ray Baker. She was a member of the Ladybells of First United Methodist Church, where she also substituted on the piano and organ. She also participated in Dr. Boyd Saviers' Bible Study at First United Methodist. She sang with the Fort Smith Chorale in their founding season and served later as a board member. She was a former member of PEO, Chapter J. She had also served on the Salvation Army Board of Directors. Family was very important to Patsy and she was always proud of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Gasaway and her husband, Jay of Witcherville; her daughter Marta Loyd and her husband, Greg of Greenwood; and her son Harold Mings, Jr. and his wife CeeCee of Fort Smith and one brother Paul Stottsberry of Poteau, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brandon Cassidy, Jaye Gasaway, Joel Gasaway, Susan Loyd, Scott Loyd, Bryan Loyd, Caroline Mings, Michael Mings and Georganne Patricia Mings. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer M. and S. Rebecca Stottsberry. Pallbearers will be Scott Loyd, Bryan Loyd, Brandon Cassidy, Joel Gasaway, Jaye Gasaway, Greg Loyd, Jay Gasaway, and Michael Mings. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 14th, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary with burial in the Oak Cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
