M. Dale, age 74, pioneer citizen of Broken Bow, died at the DeQueen Hospital Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock of heart trouble. His death came as a shock to many of his friends and Broken Bow people who didn't know of his illness. Mr. Dale came to Broken Bow from Salem, Ark., in 1918, at which time he was in the employ of the Choctaw Lumber Co. He has been a resident of Broken Bow since that time. Funeral services were held in the First Christian church in DeQueen at 3 o'clock Thursday with the Rev. W. W. Starnes of Idabel officiating. Burial was made in the DeQueen cemetery under the direction of Wilkinson Funeral Home of DeQueen. The deceased is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Allen, Clebit; Mrs. Emery Jacks, DeQueen; Mrs. Claud Spigner, Clarksville, Texas; Mrs. Henry Herndon, Claude, Texas; and three sons, Jesse, Broken Bow; Monroe, Clebit, and Walter of Chicago, Ill. Pallbearers were: R. J. Foster, H. A. Lane, J. R. Thompson, T. H. Wingfield, Rex Chandler, Ed May, Joe Aaron, W. E. Swink, Clarence Darnell and E. E. Stinebaugh. Additional Comments: James Monroe Dale was born 18 Nov 1860 in Wayne Co., MO to Wiley Dale & Nancy Ann Belvin. He married 14 Feb 1885 in Burnham, Howell Co., MO to Ida Anna Perdue (Pardue) born 9 Dec 1870 to William Martin Perdue (Pardue) & Alice Fernald. Ida died 29 Oct 1957 in Broken Bow, OK. James & Ida are both buried DeQueen Cemetery.
