These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ____________________________________________________________ Yell County, Arkansas history states that up until 1827 and 1825 the settlement of Dardanelle, Arkansas was composed of three Brearley brothers, John Wade and Elizabeth "Widow" Greenwood and her daughter, Malinda, and son, Radford. "Widow" Greenwood and her children lived in a double log cabin but vacated it by 1831 when George Williams moved his store across the Arkansas river and moved into the log cabin. The cabin must have been located where the business district of Dardanelle is located now in 1968. Their neighbors were Indians, good ones while friendly but when mad very dangerous. Malinda married John Gafford May 24, 1830. Radford b 1821 married January 26 in 1843 Susan Ferguson b 1826. Radford Greenwood was a shoemaker by trade and also played the violin for entertainment. At one time he lived at Mount George near Centerville, Arkansas. He was married three times, Mary Greenwood was the oldest daughter born to his first wife. Mary married a Howard and had several children, one being Gertie Howard and later Mrs. Claud Brown. Brown family: 1. Virgie Brown m Dan Jordan 2. Leila Brown m Joyce Hudlow a. Thomas Brown, single Radford's second wife had Sarah, Jim and Bub (probably named Lewis). His third wife had Becca, Bo and Hardin. Sarah Greenwood b 1847 d 1875 m November 18, 1868 Robert George. They had three children, James Franklin, Susie Virginia and Lewis Taylor. Becca Greenwood stood up with Susie V. George at her wedding when she married Shelby Armour in 1889. Hardin Creenwood married Hettie 1. Jack GreenwoodBo Greenwood lived at Booneville, Arkansas. Malinda Greenwood (sister of Radford) was the mother of James Petillo b 1839 d 1915 and Josephine Carden b 1849 d 1921, James H. Petillo b September 7, 1839 d October 28, 1915 m Sarah Goodman b 1847 d 1894. He married Clarissa Ramer Vining (a widow) after 1894. His first wife was the mother of the sons listed with their families below: 1. James Thomas Petillo b 1869 d 1944 m Rose Evans b 1875 d 1947. They had issue Johnie Petillo Agnes Petillo Shafter Petillo Draper Petillo Laurence Petillo Evans Petillo The history of the family is with GEORGE. 2. Riley Petillo b 1874 d 1959 m Jerusha Strait. They had issue Willie Petillo Ollie Petillo Leamern Petillo Morris Petillo b 1913 d 1957 PVT Army Air Force, World War II Lemoyne Petillo Jack Petilo Willie Petillo married a Porch and had two or three children. Charlie Porch was a native of Tennessee, Leamern Petillo married Edith Witt. Children were 1. Elisha Petillo 2. Son Morris Petillo married a Smith and then Lavoy Sheets (a widow). His children were Juana Petillo and two by Smith. Juana Petillo and James Weatherall were married October 5, 1967. 3.
