These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ____________________________________________________________ IL4 MORRIS SHERMAN HIGNIGHT was a native of Cedar Creek near Havana in Yell County, Arkansas. He was born July 17, 1884 and was the son of Liza McBride Hignight. Reared by a widow, he had two brothers, Tom and Jim, and one sister, Alpha Hignight Cooper. At 17 years of age he moved to Carden Bottom and Riverside. He first lived with the Lee Wardlow family. He rented land to farm near New Hall and his mother lived there with him. On Ju1y 30, 1917 he married Adelaide Person Duke, a teacher in the Carden Bottom schools. He was a farmer for nearly 40 years, before moving to moving Wing where he bought a farm in 1941. There he was a stockman. There were two children born to the Hignights but they died as infants. The couple had a very successful life together and built up a good sized estate both in property and money. Morris died September 7, 1956 with a bloodclot at Babtist Hosnital in Little Rock. Funeral was held in his home in Wing and interment was in the Brearley cemetery in Dardanelle. He was a Baptist and a 32nd Degree Mason. His property was willed exclusively to his wife, Adelaide, who had shared in building up the estate over her lifetime.
