His place of birth was the Bell farm near Lakeview. He is the first child of B8- John Andrew and C1- Bertha Armour Person. He was named for Jim Tisdale of Carden Bottom. He also has the same name as his great grandfather, the late James Person of Southampton County, Virginia. His grandfather was Edward Randolph Person. The family moved to White Oak mountain in Van Buren County in 1914. There he attended school at New Hope and Austin schools. In 1924 he attended school at Scotland, Arkansas. In 1925 the family moved to Carden Bottom and he finished high school May 29, 1931. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class. He is a carpenter and farmer by trade in 1968. He was married to Eathel Chism an January 27, 1930. They only lived together for a short time. D10- James Edward Person, Jr. was born October 24, 1930. When Jr. was a baby, he and his mother moved with her family to California and he has never returned to Arkansas (1968). On June 25, 1934, he and Floy Marie Furr of Dover were married. They had no issue but reared a niece, D14- Carol Jean Person. They moved to Pontoon on January 1, 1936 to farm the Hunt land and bought land near the Petit Jean Creek in 1956. James, Floy and Carol Jean joined the First Methodist Church in Dardanelle, Arkansas, on Easter Sunday,.April 10, 1955.
