These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ____________________________________________________________ C6 LOLA VIRGINIA PERSON was born April 30, 1911 near Fowler in Garden Bottom in Yell County, Arkansas. She is a daughter of B8- John Andrew and C1- Beltha Mae Armour Person. She is named for a neighbor, Lola Aston and her Grandmother Armour, also her aunt Eathel Person. In 1914 her family moved to White Oak mountain in Van Buren County. There she attended the three months terms of schools. In 1923 the family moved back to Carden Bottom and she finished high school in Garden Bottom February 28, 1933. She finished Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville on May 24, 1937 with sixty-one semester hours in elementary education. Tech has since become a four year college. She joined the Church of Christ September 8, 1939 and was accepted in the Order of the Eastern Star, Carden Bottom Chapter #240 in October, 1929, accepted in Council Oaks Chapter #589 in Dardanelle in July l953. She taught school in Carden Bottom and Dardanelle far several terms which enabled her to return an obligation for her schooling to B10- Aunt Adelaide by helping send two younger sisters to Arkansas Polytechnic College later. She and Walter Cooper were married April 12, 1938 in Dardanelle by Rev. Shelton. They lived in Riverside on the farm for the first three years of their married life. On June 30, 1941 they bought a home at 803 North Front Street, Dardanelle and continue to live there in 1966. They had no issue. She received a tremendous satisfaction from the attention that she was able to give to her parents in their older years. She took her first piano lesson in September 1932 from Mrs. Fley Berry. This hobby she enjoyed very much. She was elected president of Brearley Cemetery Association in 1955 and held that office for many years. She was a member of the Dardanelle Garden Club, the Dardanelle MusicalCoterie (1953-1966), Dardanelle Book Review Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was baptized by immersion at Reid's Ferry near Fowler in the Arkansas River in 1929. One week later on September 15th, Orra Person, Wanda Anglin and Aunt Trudie Armour were baptized at the same place.
