She was the second daughter of John Edward and Bertha Armour Person. She was born soon, after the family moved into their new home on the homestead of 160 acres. She was named for her Aunt Adelaide Person Hignight and a friend of the family, Mrs. Orra Ray Potts. A neighbor, Laura Kilpatrick, sent a report of her birth to Little Rock, the first year that birth certificates were issued in Arkansas. She attended school at New Hope in Pope County and Austin in Van Buren County. She and her sister, C6- Lola, were staying with the Hignights and attending school at Lakeview when their family moved to Carden Bottom in 1925. She attended New Hall and Carden Bottom High School. She entered Arkansas Polytechnic College May 29, 1933. She took a high school examination in order to get credit for her college work. She taught school at Austin in Van Buren County and cooked for her grandfather, Edward Person, in the summer of 1934. She taught a full term at Fourche Valley in the primary grades 1934-1935. She finished at Tech with 60 semester hours of college work in July 23, 1936. She joined the Church of Christ and was baptized September l5, 1929. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star #240, Carden Bottom Lodge on October 1, 1932 and was accepted in the Council Oaks Chapter #589 in August 1953. She served as Worthy Matron of that lodge in 1965 and her brother, James E. Person, served as Worthy Patron. She married Hollis Jackson Ragsdale on July 2, 1936 and taught several terms of school in Carden Bottom and Dardanelle before her first child, D11- Diane, was born on January 11, 1945. On November 30, 1946, D12- Larry Person Ragsdale was born in a Russellville Hospital. Diane was born in Morrilton Hospital in Conway County, Arkansas. They bought a home and farm near Elberta about 1945. The house burned on November 30, 1950. She worked as Home Management aide on the Office of Economic Opportunities Program (Poverty Program) from 1965 through the present in 1968. She now belongs to Dardanelle Presbyterian Church and the Liberty Hall Extension Homemakers Club. She was attentive to her parents who lived close by in Elberta until their deaths.
