These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ____________________________________________________________ IL11 HOLLIS JACKSON RAGSDALE was born at Fowler in Carden Bottom, Yell County, Arkansas on January 1, 1914 the son of Jess R. and Sarah Rorex Ragsdale. He attended the Carden Bottom and Dardanelle schools. With his parents he lived several years at Riverside below Dardanelle along Arkansas river. He had two brothers, Lewis and John Ragsdale, and five sisters, Stella Jones, Velma Martindale, Gladys Smith, Vernon Hamlin and Ollie Vann. He was a farmer and worked part time, and when young, at a cotton gin. He was once in the dairy business and a stockman for several years. He joined the Dardanelle Presbyterian Church. He and Orra Person married July 2, 1936. They lived in Missouri and Chickalah, Arkansas before moving to Riverside to farm. They bought a farm at Elberta about 1945 and the house burned November 30, 1950. DII- Diane Lynn was born in Morrilton (Conway County) on January 11, 1945 and D12- Larry Person Ragsdale was born in Russellville (Pope County) on November 30, 1946. While crawling through a fence on the John Person estate on July 25 1966, Hollis was shot through the neck and head when a gun he was carrying accidentally went off. Brain surgery was performed that day in a Little Rock hospital. Further brain surgery was performed a year or so later.
