These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ____________________________________________________________ C14 HERBERT NEAL PERSON was born February 18, 1921 on White Oak mountain while a heavy snow lay on the ground. White Oak is in Van Buren County, Arkansas. He is the son of B13- Herbert and ILB- Ethel Armstead Person. He attended school in Russellville and Carden Bottom and attended one term at Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville. Soon after his family moved to Wing, on March 8, 1941 he married Louise Lynch who was born May 20, 1923 in Carden Bottom the daughter of W. M. and Mattie Stubbs Lynch. Neal Person and Opie Tucker of Casa were the first of the Person family to go to Chicago. Louise and Lucille went soon after to join their husbands. Carol Annette Person was born December 25, 1942. Neal was drafted into the army from Chicago in Cook County during World War II in 1943. He fought in the "Battle of the Bulge" in Belgium on December 16, 1944 where the Germans were stopped at the Meuse River. He returned to the states by 1946. After leaving the armed services he and Louise lived in Arkansas at Wing. Their six last children were born in Yell and Pope Counties. Their daughter, Annette, first attended Arkansas Polytechnic College and then the University of Akansas at Fayetteville and she graduated in 1965. Mary Adelaide, another daughter, entered U. of A. in 1965 and Sandra in 1967. April 4, 1958, Neal entered Veteran's Hospital in Little Rock with tuberculosis. Louise and the five children entered Booneville Sanatorium and all the family had the disease except Louise. Neal, Louise and four of the children were home by winter. Annette remained longer to undergo surgery to remove a spot from her lung. On August 29, 1962 Annette Person and Jerry Miley were married at Briggsville Methodist Church. Reception was held in the Hignight home. They were both students at University of Arkansas at the time. Annette's child, Jerry Ann Miley, was born July 25, 1965 in Fayetteville. Another child was born in 1968.
