She was the daughter of B13- Herbert and IL2- Ethel Armstead Person. She and her brother Neal spent the winter at Lakeview with their Aunt and Uncle M. S. Hignight and attended her first school. In 1932 her family moved to Russellville when she attended grade school. The family moved to Cotton Town in Carden Bottom and she attended school at Carden Bottom High. In 1941, her father, Herbert, with his three children moved to Wing to be near his sister, Adelaide. Edith finished high school at Fourche Valley and attended a term at Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville. On May 26, l943 she and Miles Buel Turner married. Buel was born January 17, 1907 at Wing (Yell County) the son of John and Effie Woolbright Turner. Edith worked at Ola for her sister-in-law, Mima Buford, at her cafe. She took a beauty course in Hot Springs and established her own business in Ola, Arkansas. Later she bought land and built her own salon. After the death of her father in 1966 she added rooms to the rear of her shop for a home. Her mother, Ethel, lives there with her in 1968.
