All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** The modest owner of Gibson Wholesale Meats is Ed Gibson, who has worked long and hard to make his business a success. He was first partners with Walter Piddy, which began in Marianna in Novermber, 1946 as Gibson-Priddy Wholesale Meat Dealers. In October 1949, Mr. Gibson bought out his partner, and the business has grown now with 14 employees, 5 trucks covering 7 counties. Mr. Gibson was born at Boydell, Ark., son of W. E. and Annie (Simpson) Gibson, now of Hamburg. A graduate of Dermtt High School, he attended Monticello A & M and Arkansas State Teachers College. In May 1941, he joined the U. S. Army in World War II, served three years overseas in the European Theatre, before his discharge on Nov. 5, 1945. On Apr. 14, 1946, he married Miss Neva Buchanan, daughter of Virgil and Myrtie (Helsley) Buchanan of Santa Paula, Calif., and to this union has been born two children.
