All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** For more than a quarter of a century, Earl Jackson, Sr., has been buying cotton from St. Francis County Farmers. It was actually 30 years ago that he bought hsi first cotton. He now also retails and wholesales planting seed fromhis office on Cotton row in Forrest City. He is the son of the late George L. and Mollie (Evans) Jackson, and the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Hiram Evans, who were the earliest settlers in the southern part of St. Francis County. The Evans Grove School, south of Forrest City, was donated to the Forrest City Public School District by Mr. Evans. Mr. Jackson was born on the Evans Estate and moved to Forrest City when he was a baby, and has lived at 100 East Cook for more than 50 years. The Jackson residence, at the time of its purchase, was then the only white home north on Rosser Street. His wife is the former Ethel M. Garrett and her parents were pioneers at Waverly in Middle Tennessee. They have a daughter and a son, and a grand-daughter. All of the Jackson family are Methodists. SOURCE: HISTORY of ST.
