McCord is the present pastor of the Missionary Baptist Church in this city. He was born in Christian County, Kentucky, October 1, 1875, where he was reared on a farm, and thus became familiar with every phase of farm life. His education was obtained in the district school. He professed faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 16, and was baptized into the fellowship of West Mt. Zion Church, in his native county. He was from his conversion a regular attendant at Sunday school and prayer- meeting, taking an active part in both. In January 1895 his church liberated him to preach the gospel. He was married December 28, 1903 to Miss Emma V. Johnson, of Crofton, Kentucky.
