Funeral services for W. J. "Speck" Hughes, 72, who died Wednesday morning at his home in Haynes, were held in Stevens Funeral Home at 4 p. m. Wednesday. Rev. Henry Downing conducted the services. Burial was in Forrest Park Cemetery. Mr. Hughes had been in poor health since suffering a heart attack in 1958. He had been seriously ill for the past year. Born July 24, 1892, in Haynes, Mr. Hughes had spent his entire life there. He was the son of Sarah Elizabeth Briley and James Lawson Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a Baptist, a farmer and ginner, a Veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Survivers include his wife, Mrs. Helen Mae Hughes and a son, LIVING, both of Haynes; a step-daughter, LIVING of Marvel; a sister, Mrs. H. R. King of New Albany, Miss.; and three grandchildren. Burial: Forrest Park Cemetery Forrest City, St. Francis County, Arkansas, USA.
