Robert L. Jones, 53, died Wednesday, January 13, at the Regional Medical Center
in Memphis. He was a 1963 graduate of Anna Strong High School. He later attended
Arkansas AM&N College in Pine Bluff. In 1967 he joined the armed services and
served for three years. He also was a faithful employee of Sanyo Manufacturing
Co. for 33 years. He is survived by a daughter, LIVING of Newport News,
Virginia; one brother, LIVING of San Francisco; his godparents, Clemmie and
Earnestine Taylor; four nieces and one nephew. Funeral services were held
Saturday, January 16, at 12 p. m. at Mt. Gillian Baptist Church at Holub
Crossing with Rev. Spencer Brown officiating. Burial followed at Gill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joseph L. Perry, Jr., Columbus Dukes, Jr., Waverly Austin, Sr.,
Edgar Dukes, Jr., Larry Banks, Eugene Perry, Willie Lee Conley and Clifton
Collier. Honorary pallbearers were Columbus Dukes, Sr., Curtis Walker, Edgar
Dukes, Sr., Arthur Perkins, Charles Nash, Isaac Green and Sullivan Evans.
Arrangements were handled by Jackson and Highley Funeral Home in West Helena.
